Useful Resources

Please be advised that, at present, we have already moved through the 5 priority groups eligible for the vaccination and are currently working on group 6 (16-64 at risk). Rest assured that we are working hard and offering appointments to all the eligible patients, however at the moment demand is greater than the vaccine supply.

You will receive an SMS message from the surgery with a link for online booking once appointments become available. However, we are not in control of the number of vaccines being delivered, when and what type and only receive notification of these a few days before their arrival so please do not contact the surgery to enquire when the next clinics will be run as in most instances we will not know. Please wait and you will be contacted.

If we do not have a mobile number in your record, please contact us to add it to your record. For those that we do not hear from we will be phoning on their landline as and when we know of vaccine arrivals.

Concurrently NHS England is inviting patients in group 7 (all those over 60 years of age) to book their appointment online and to travel to one of the mass vaccination centres, if you have received a letter and do not want to travel to the one of the centres please do not call us. As the NHS England letter states, wait and you will be invited.

In line with the Government guidelines all patients attending the surgery are now required to wear face coverings/mask at all times whilst on premises.

We thank you for your co-operation

How To Find Us

Mount Avenue Surgery
2 Mount Avenue
CM13 2NL

Tel: 01277 283180

The Practice was founded in 1914 by Dr Fiddes and is now housed in purpose-built premises built in 1970 further extended in 1989 and again in 1994. The Practice provides a range of essential, national and local medical services under the General Medical Services Contract. There are currently seven partners at the surgery, three full time (Dr Ward, Dr Kanagasabai and Dr De Silva) and four part time (Dr Neill, Dr Subhani, Dr Iriso & Dr George).

The Practice area covers Shenfield and Hutton only. We are not a limited partnership.

Publication of Earnings 2018-19

“ All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working at Mount Avenue Surgery in the last financial year was £82,987 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 3 full time GPs and 4 part time GPs who worked in the practice for more than six months.

However it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.

Attention - Care.Data Records Extraction

Confidential information from your medical records can be used by the NHS to improve the services offered so that the best possible care can be provided for everyone. This information, along with your postcode and NHS number but not your name, are sent to a secure system where it can be linked with other health information.

This allows those planning NHS services or carrying out medical research to use information from different parts of the NHS in a way which does not identify you.

You have a choice.

Care Quality Registration

As required by the Health and Social Care Act 2008 the Practice is registered as Dr Ward and Partners, Service Provider ID 1-199726715, effective 1st April 2013.

Named GP

From April 2015, all patients will have a named GP who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that our surgery provides to them.

What does this mean for our patients?

As one of our patients, you will be given a named GP.

Your named GP will have overall responsibility for the care and support that our surgery provides to you. They will also work with other relevant health and care professionals, who are involved in your care, to ensure that your care package meets your individual needs. This does not prevent you from seeing any GP in the practice as you currently do.

You do not need to do anything, but if you have any questions, or wish to discuss this further please contact the surgery.

Access To The Surgery

Very limited patient/visitors parking is available at the enclosed side of the surgery only. Patients/visitors must obtain parking permit at reception, if you fail to do so you will be charged fine. There are, however, good local parking facilities within Shenfield and we would ask that patients consider using these as an alternative to parking at the Surgery.

We do not accept any responsibility for vehicles in the car park; these are parked entirely at owners' risk.

Wheelchair access is via the main entrance.

The downstairs patients' toilet has facilities for the disabled and baby-changing facilities.

A lift is available for access to the upstairs consultation rooms.
